GOAA SQL Database Server Requirements


Objective

The following sections list the minimum hardware and software requirements to install and run MS SQL Server 2014 for GOAA BP-447 project. We recommend to use MS-SQL 64bit standard (MS-SQL Express only allows storage of up to 10GB).

Database Creation
Installation of C-Nario Messenger application creates application database (Cnario_Messenger) including objects, triggers, index tables, views, etc.
Privileges
• For database creation SA authentication is required
Database Availability, Operation, & Backup
MS SQL Server Database will be used in conjunction with CNario Messenger which provides editing, control, and monitoring of the digital signage network. Therefore, high availability (24x7) is crucial.
Availability
• Cluster solution is recommended to mitigate risk
• Bandwidth to both CNario Messenger servers should be 10Gbps minimum
• Redundant NIC is recommended for both SQL servers

Operation
• Each operator of digital signage network requires read, write, and create privileges

Backup & Archiving
• Full backup monthly and differential backup weekly is recommended
• Offsite backup is recommended for disaster recovery purposes
• For archiving, our recommendation is to archive the last month of full backup as well as differential backups

Space Allocation
• CNario initial setup with its content requires 5GB
• Annual growth anticipation is 3GB per year
